Keep Bees

The UK honey bee, Apis Mellifera, is one of 270 types of bees in UK.  If you have the time and commitment to keep bees in your garden or on your land then you would be supporting our honey bee pollinators. However if you want to look after your bees responsibly you should attend a beekeeping theory course, then learn how to handle your bees safely before you make the decision to purchase bees or equipment.

You won’t be helping bees if you don’t care for them responsibly.

Taster Day – In normal circumstances we run a Taster Day in June as an introduction to beekeeping but this year it is cancelled due to Covid-19. If you are interested in attending the 2021 day or giving it as a Christmas or Birthday present then please contact us. It is an excellent way to find out about bees and beekeeping and you won’t be tasting bees! but you will have an introduction to bee theory, followed by lunch and then a trip to our Training Apiary for a bee inspection.

Theory and Practical Course – If you know you want to keep bees then we run a 6 week Theory Course starting in January 2021 followed by an 8 week Practical Course at our Training Apiary to help you every step of the way.

The Theory course is run on a weekday afternoon or evening dependent upon your work and home commitment. The Practical course is held on a Saturday morning.
